Thanksgiving 2012

We spent the actual day with the Dalton's and had a good old fashioned redneck Thanksgiving with a bonfire, ATVs, and target shooting followed by an enormous feast and football.  A good time was had by all.  We recuperated for a day and then had part II at our house on Saturday the 24!

Jason was in charge of the bird.  First he stuffed bacon under the skin and rubbed the top with herbs and butter.  He then gently laid it to rest on a bed of vegetables.
  A little suntan...

After the outside was nice and crispy the turkey got a bacon blanket.
Oh the delicious crispiness!
It was almost sad to take off the weave so we could carve the bird.  But we did and we are glad.

We need to talk about the gravy for a moment....turkey and bacon drippings make THE BEST gravy everrrrr.  We shared the feast with our neighborhood friends.
