So this is the fair that was the inspiration for E.B. White's Charlote's Web. It is a little country fair with everything you would expect. Accept it's Maine so there was a Lumber Jack show and alpacas.
Watching the sheep awards show.
Baby Bo's perch.
For some reason there were a lot of these spotted piggies this year.
Bo getting tired at the Rosy's Racing Pigs show.
Fun animals at Zuckerman's.
Mmmm bacon.
Can you tell which hatch-ling is which?
Bo loved the turkeys-they make a really exciting sound!
We found the tiny motorcycles again.
And a little go cart.
The flower exhibit was mamas favorite.
The grandma spinning yarn out of alpaca wool was pretty cool too.
Bo waiting...
And waiting...
Somehow it's better waiting while eating carny food : )
SATURDAY-Canoeing (catch and release fishing on the stream that leads to Hothole Pond)
Boating with some friends on the Union River
Koa's Pan Fish
Jason's pickerel. Yes, we all fished with chartreuse Shreck fishing poles bought on sale for $5. They are the perfect canoe fishing pole length and more importantly got the job done.
Lessons from Dad.
And another pickerel.
Inside the canoe view...chubby legs on tip toe!
Kai with a perch. We brought this one home and ate it.
Or maybe it was this one?
Mr. Pickerel.
Cleaning the fish.
What a great spot.
A lovely evening for a boat ride with friends. Baby Bo is a boat girl!
It worked better for him used like a spy glass.
Really cool picture.
Three little monkeys trying to stay warm in the bow.
Sunset on the Union River.
SUNDAY-Corn Day and Fireworks
Everybody a shukin'. Well, some are tasting.
Two "ears" of corn.
Four ears.
Six ears.
Little Bo got sooo greasy enjoying her corn that she had to go directly into the bath. The sink bath. Then flowers sprouted out of the top of her head.
After the bath we took the lovely vase of yellow flowers to Sister Booth for her birthday and then finished off the day watching the fireworks over the Blue Hill Fair.
MONDAY-Labor Day at the water slides and muscles for dinner!
That's right the neighbor gave us 1/2 a bushel, and although it was a group effort, one of us was up until midnight processing them. Thanks Joe!
Clockwise-steamed, shelled, shells.
We needed a holiday after our holiday! What fun.
